Afghanistan observe National mourning after suicide bomb attack in Kabul

Afghanistan marked a National day of mourning on Sunday, a day after 80 people were killed by a twin suicide bomb attack on a peaceful demonstration.

Funerals are due to begin in Western Kabul as families collected their dead from hospitals across the capital.

Some families plan to bury their dead in kabul, while others have chosen to hold funerals in their respective hometowns.

“Afghan governments has discriminated against citizens for centuries. We want to stay here, it is our country , and we will fight for our rights,” Mohammad Mahdi a brother to one of the victims.

“The president dint even come out of his palace to ask what we want. He has no shame, he is just presenting condolences,“Mohammad Taher Ahmadi, close relative to one of the victim.

One of the organisers of the demonstration, Ahmad Behzad called on the international community to find the principal authors of the attack.

“The international community must compel the government to respect the will of the people and put in place the plan for electricity. Otherwise, it should be ready for sacrifice . Our blood is not worth more than that of those who dead,” he added.

President Ashraf Ghani in a televised address on Sunday vowed to punish those responsible for the attack.

The United States has offered assistance to investigate the attack which also injured some 230 people.
